Issue:
User is unable to access their Microsoft Outlook account due to a forgotten password and requires assistance with resetting it.
Cause:
Forgotten password preventing access to the Microsoft Outlook account.
Resolution:
- Verify your identity by confirming your name, email, phone number, or recent billing information as required by the verification process.
- Ensure your account is active and not locked or disabled.
- Initiate the password reset through the Admin Console by selecting your user profile and sending a reset link.
- Use the system-generated reset link sent via email. Note that the reset link will expire within 24 hours.
- Enter a new password that meets the security policy, confirm it, and complete the reset process.
- After successfully resetting your password and logging in, enable two-factor authentication (2FA) by navigating to Security Settings, selecting Two-Factor Authentication, and adding your preferred method (such as SMS, authenticator app, or hardware token).
- Save any provided recovery codes in a secure place.
- For security reasons, always use the system-generated reset link for password changes. Passwords should never be sent via email or SMS.
- If you encounter issues such as not receiving the reset email or problems with 2FA, troubleshoot by resending the reset link or verifying device settings.
