Issue:

User is unable to access their Microsoft Outlook account due to a forgotten password and requires assistance with resetting it.

Cause:

Forgotten password preventing access to the Microsoft Outlook account.

Resolution:

  1. Verify your identity by confirming your name, email, phone number, or recent billing information as required by the verification process.
  2. Ensure your account is active and not locked or disabled.
  3. Initiate the password reset through the Admin Console by selecting your user profile and sending a reset link.
  4. Use the system-generated reset link sent via email. Note that the reset link will expire within 24 hours.
  5. Enter a new password that meets the security policy, confirm it, and complete the reset process.
  6. After successfully resetting your password and logging in, enable two-factor authentication (2FA) by navigating to Security Settings, selecting Two-Factor Authentication, and adding your preferred method (such as SMS, authenticator app, or hardware token).
  7. Save any provided recovery codes in a secure place.
  8. For security reasons, always use the system-generated reset link for password changes. Passwords should never be sent via email or SMS.
  9. If you encounter issues such as not receiving the reset email or problems with 2FA, troubleshoot by resending the reset link or verifying device settings.
